Compliance, Competence, Quality:  Delivering Outstanding Care is a Team Effort

The level of care an individual receives is built on the foundations of compliance, competence, and quality. Direct responsibility in these areas sits with the registered manager, but in reality, it relies on a coordinated team: from frontline delivery to back-office support.

A digital learning management system allows all members of that extended team to build their competence and quickly and easily access key data to ensure compliance and enhance quality.

The care experience is essentially what happens ‘in the moment’ during the interaction between client and caregiver. But there’s a story leading up to that moment. One that ensures the care delivered is always matched to the individual’s needs and preferences, consistently delivered by somebody with the required skills, and within a safe environment.

Care delivery also must be financially sound and sustainable so clients can be assured of continuity.

From the senior management team to the carer, Redcrier’s eBox learning management system links the back office, care delivery and quality of care.

Support for Frontline Care

Frontline staff need training and support to do their job effectively, which often includes a deeper understanding of issues such as dementia care. When it comes to care training there’s plenty on offer – as e-learning, distance learning or face-to-face.

Support for frontline staff comes from care managers and a back-office team. These people also need to be trained and competent for the entire system to work as it should, driven by empowered individuals at all levels.

The growth of e-learning makes it easier than ever for everyone to receive the training they need. And there’s a direct link between competence, confidence, job satisfaction and staff retention.

Data held in eBox enables Care Managers to feel confident they have a pool of qualified care staff and to make full use of those skills and competences.

Senior Leadership

Some roles including Quality Assurance, Finance, HR and other support roles are (in larger organisations) likely to be based offsite, or at least slightly removed from the care delivery. Yet they still need easy access to key data concerning staff competences.

Digital technology allows them to securely access the data they need at any time from any location with an internet connection.

The availability of care staff with the required competences is a key consideration in business planning. Bidding for additional care packages or more far-reaching plans for expanding services all rely on the certainty that there will be skilled staff available to deliver the care services needed.

Training the Whole Team

Competence isn’t just about the people directly delivering care. Redcrier is renowned as a specialist in care training and  our extensive course range includes (but not limited to) the following:

  • Care Planning
  • Clinical Governance
  • Information Governance
  • Record Keeping
  • Communication
  • Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
  • EDI
  • Safeguarding
  • Supervisory Skills
  • Wellbeing

Effective communication underpins everything, and managers and supervisors are pivotal: ensuring caregivers have clear plans to follow and that the organisation always has the right resources to meet needs.

The aim of whole-team training is to build a self-supporting  culture that continuously grows competence and capability, and is consistently safe, caring, effective, responsive, and well-led.
