Our charity walk for Alzheimer’s Society is fast approaching, 5 more sleeps until we are attempting to walk the 26-mile route along the south Devon coast on Saturday 9th September 2023. Let us hope the glorious views will keep our minds from the enormity of the task.
We will of course be motivated by the amount of support we have had in the form of donations and, so far, we have raised £1850 for a great cause. We would like to take this opportunity to offer a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us to date.
Having spoken to the Alzheimer’s Society events team during the build-up, I have started to understand how important the donations are to the cause, allowing them to research drugs that slow the effects of Dementia, meaning that people can carry on with everyday tasks for longer. This recent research breakthrough could drastically revolutionise how Alzheimer’s impacts people in the future. The money raised also facilitates the roll out of blood testing to detect Dementia earlier, so there is greater opportunity to support individuals who are diagnosed.
The combination of early diagnosis and slowing the effects will have an enormous impact on the pain and suffering that Dementia causes for those diagnosed and the people trying to support them. If you or anyone in your network are suffering due to Alzheimer’s, there is support available for you.
I am sure you can appreciate the team of Redcrier staff, planning to do the walk, are overjoyed with the timing of this heat wave we are currently experiencing. We are starting to think more favourably toward the 6:30am start time that we have booked in. Might get to witness the sun rise over the English Riviera and cover a few miles before the heat starts to increase the challenge.
We are close to our £2000 target and would appreciate any support that you can give, where every penny will be forwarded to Alzheimer’s Society via JustGiving. If you can support us, please use the button below to visit our JustGiving page.
Thanks to everyone who has supported us so far and we will see you again once we have crossed the finish line.
