What Courses Are Care Managers Researching?

Occasionally, Redcrier publishes an update of popular and topical courses. The start of a new year is probably the ideal time to do this as many care providers are starting to make plans for the next twelve months.

Mental Health

The mental health of many people has suffered during the pandemic – this applies to care staff as well as clients. Many providers have recognised the need to update their awareness of mental health issues so that they can identify potential problems early and take appropriate action.

Our courses Understanding Mental Health, Mental Health First Aid Awareness, Mental Health Matters and Wellbeing are much in demand.

Understanding Mental Health includes units on Anxiety, Depression, Eating disorders, Bipolar and Schizophrenia. A key learning point is that changes to our mental health are not always obvious. Someone might present with more than one disorder at the same time.

The Mental Health First Aid Awareness course includes a handy five-point action plan to help you identify and deal with mental health issues effectively.

Bed Rails

Correct use of bed rails helps to keep some clients safe by preventing them from sliding or rolling out of bed. But this equipment also comes with significant risks if they are not fitted or used correctly.

Redcrier’s Bed Rails Use and Safety course will help your staff:

  • Understand best practice in using bed rails safely
  • Identify potential risks associated with bed rail use
  • Understand how to reduce the risks associated with bed rail use
  • Identify alternatives to bed rails
  • Know how to report and record bed rail incidents

The course is available in eBox and SilverBox formats to make it easier for your staff to become confident in using bed rails safely.

Person-Centred Approaches

Given the focus of care standards and CQC inspections on person-centred care it’s not surprising that this course is always in demand. It’s a reliable way to ensure that you apply this foundation of all good care delivery appropriately. The course will help your staff:

  • Identify person-centred values.
  • Understand person-centred approaches for care and support.
  • Identify how to work in a person-centred way.
  • Support an individual’s right to make choices.
